After being closed since 2014, The Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City was demolished. In 1984, Donald Trump opened it.
The Plaza's end came with a sequence of blasts at about 9 am. The house imploded and the beach and the famous Atlantic City boardwalk were engulfed by a massive cloud of ashes.
There were cheers from a people's watching party that had charged $10 to watch from their vehicles. "The Associated Press was told by Marty Small, the town mayor who had described the abandoned building as an eyesore:
